Since its establishment in 2000, Maipo Film has distinguished itself as one of the leading production companies in the Norwegian film industry.

The Oscar-nominated film Elling is a good reference for the company's central vision: Maipo Film is to be a trademark for quality film aimed at a large and wide audience.

The company's primary objective is to produce at least two feature films a year, and a number of their films so far have been major box-office successes. Among others, Maipo Film has been behind productions such as the TV series All for one (Ran), the Elling films, Jonny Vang, Just Bea, My Jealous BarberThe Art of Negative Thinking,
the Svein and the Rat films, The Last Joint Venture and Happy, Happy.

The company was also responsible for four half-hour films for the short feature series Love is… for TV2 (2001), concept and screenplay for NRK TV's series Brigaden (2002), and the short film Oh My God! (2008).
